This post is sooo long overdue. Awhile back, my cousin (Kirsten Komant from the Beauty Parlor) and I had Jamie come over to do a fun fashion shoot. She was awesome and gave us full reign to style and shoot her how we wanted, which was so fun for us. I love how they turned out. Jamie did an amazing job of modelling for us, and Kirsten killed it on the styling. FYI, Kirsten does all the styling for me for my boudoir shoots. We would both love to get into a little more fashion photography, and for our first experimental shoot I think it went really well!

I recently had the chance to photograph Jessica for a beauty session. I thought it was such a great idea! As mothers we’re almost always the ones holding the camera so it’s rare to see our faces in any of them. Now her girls will be able to look back and see how stunning their momma was when they were little girls. Make-up and hair by Kirsten Komant from the Beauty Parlor.

I’ve been doing some amazing sessions with very beautiful women lately. I can’t show you a lot of them, but here are some from a recent session with the gorgeous Samantha. I love how soft and pretty these are!

I recently upgraded my camera, lights and backdrops. Lots of investment but it seems necessary given the -13 temperatures I saw in my car thermostat today. I’m hoping to offer some fun kids mini-sessions soon, but in the meantime here are a few of my hubby I took tonight playing with my new toys.

For a workshop I’m doing I had to do photos for words we were given. One of those words was truth.

I chose to do a portrait of my husband for truth, and to do it in a way that shows every line, spot, scar and pore. This is the truth of who he is. He’s 37, and every year he gets a few more gray hairs in his beard and a few more lines in his face. I think he gets more and more handsome with each line. He looks distinguished, and it’s hard to not love him with his English accent to go along with all that wisdom.

Meet Brittany and Dustin and their little pup. I met them at the park last week for a session and got to do some fun, romantic shots. The camera loved both of them, but Brittany’s eyes are so pretty in these! Here’s a few from our session.

This was a little different than my average family shoot. Mom wanted something cool and different, no fall colors, no cheesy family smiles… so we went out to Whyte Ave for a walk. I wanted this shoot to feel a little more edgy, more catalogue than I normally do. It was tons of fun to get creative and do something fun with models old enough to listen and do what I say. Here’s a few from our shoot.

I have tons of family sessions booked in the next few weeks, along with the fall mini-sessions on October 2nd and 3rd, and I’ve had a lot of questions about what to wear. I’ve put together this little guide with some ideas on how to coordinate without looking too matchy matchy.

Depending on the weather on the day of your shoot, layering is a great option, and even bring along your warm jackets to take off for a few minutes at a time while we shoot. Bring along hats and scarves especially for the kids as well. Of course, incorporate your own style and have fun!

Last week I met up with Rebecca Lappa and her mom for her CD cover shoot. Although you can’t tell in some of these photos, Rebecca is only 13 and already well on her way to a career in music. This is her second CD and she plays all over at festivals. I’m doing the design for the CD as well so I’ll post that once it’s done.
