It’s no secret I love photographing newborns. There’s something about giving people the memories of what their baby looks like brand new, when they’re so full of pride and joy that I just love. We all know how fast babies grow up and look so different even in a few months… it’s so wonderful to remember them so tiny and innocent.

It’s in that spirit that I want to do a newborn special. For the month of February, if you book your newborn session with me you will get 25 5×7 flat custom birth announcements. The session doesn’t have to take place in February, just has to be booked then. So if you’re expecting, or know someone who’s expecting now is a great time to book in.

April, May and June are already more than half booked. I take a limited number of newborn sessions so that I can make sure I give the best possible experience to all of my clients, so if your due date is within those months please book as soon as possible to make sure you get a date.

It’s that time of year when we’re all searching the internet and scouring the stores looking for something that our loved ones will actually want. I know I am, and I struggle with finding something that has heart and isn’t just something to buy because we want to fill the spot under the tree. Christmas is about family, love and memories to me. So, I thought I would offer something special this year… gift certificates that you can purchase ahead of time to give to your loved one on Christmas Day. I think this is such a thoughtful gift that any mom, dad, grandma or grandpa would just love to get as a gift. This year I’ve decided to do something a little different than the usual Christmas Cards I offer that I think is pretty fun. I’m offering these cute little round cards that will double as tree ornaments. Just punch a hole through the top and slip in a pretty ribbon and you have a very sweet and original Christmas card. They are 5×5, come with envelopes and are $125 for 25 cards. If you’ve had a session with me this year and want to order them, send me an email! I think they’re super cute!

Here are my 2010 Holiday Cards. If you would like one, or you recently did a fall mini-session, choose the card by the number above it. Try to stick to the amount and orientation of photos when you’re choosing yours. I can always modify them though if it doesn’t work the way you want. Colors can also be changed. The cards are $100 for 25 cards.

I have tons of family sessions booked in the next few weeks, along with the fall mini-sessions on October 2nd and 3rd, and I’ve had a lot of questions about what to wear. I’ve put together this little guide with some ideas on how to coordinate without looking too matchy matchy.

Depending on the weather on the day of your shoot, layering is a great option, and even bring along your warm jackets to take off for a few minutes at a time while we shoot. Bring along hats and scarves especially for the kids as well. Of course, incorporate your own style and have fun!

So… I just realized this morning that I booked the fall mini-session dates over Thanksgiving weekend. Obviously that’s not a great weekend for most people so I’m going to be changing it to Saturday, October 2nd and Sunday October 3rd. If you’ve already booked a session I’ve emailed you to reschedule.

I know it seems early to start thinking about Christmas cards and presents, but for these cards it does pay to think ahead. I will need to have all Christmas Card orders in by November 15th so that you can get them by December 1st and send them out to all your friends and family. Plus, what better gift to give grandparents than a nice framed photo, or better yet a canvas of your family for a Christmas present!
