maternity.
TIME FRAME
I like to book maternity sessions between 7 and 8 months, depending on how you’re feeling and showing. Please contact me as soon as you can so I can schedule your session in that time frame.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Maternity sessions take about an hour. We’ll do a few different clothing changes and move around a bit. I love outdoor maternity shoots, so if it’s spring, summer or fall we’ll probably do them outside, unless you want the indoor studio look.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring along clothing that hugs your curves and shows your body. Some great staples are fitted jeans, tank tops, tube tops, cute dresses, yoga pants, bras tops and sweaters that button at the top. Color and pattern are great as well, especially for outdoor sessions, so bring a variety of outfits along.
newborns.
TIME FRAME
Newborn sessions are best when the baby is 10 days old or younger. We do them this early so that the baby is still very sleepy, curly and hasn’t gotten the baby acne that tends to show up around 2-3 weeks old. Book your newborn session before you have the baby and we can always change the date if we need to.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A typical newborn session takes about 3 hours. We take our time, allow for feedings and settling. For this type of session I focus on the newborn photos, but can do a few sibling and parent shots as well.
WHAT TO BRING
I have a wonderful collection of hats, baskets and blankets, but please do bring anything that may be special to you.
LOCATION
I shoot newborns in natural light and can come to your home as long as you have a large North facing window. If you would rather come to me, I am set up at my home studio for newborn photos.
family.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Family sessions will range from 1 to 2 hours. If you have small children we’ll run, play, blow bubbles and enjoy some sunshine. Don’t worry if your kids aren’t that interested in getting their photo taken. Allow them to be themselves and I will do the chasing. It’s best not to push them into saying “cheese” and pose… I would much rather capture them naturally.
WHAT TO WEAR
Dress your family with style! You don’t all need to wear the same color t-shirt and jeans. Dress in similar tones but it’s perfectly acceptable to bring in some color and texture as long as it’s not overpowering. If in doubt jeans and t-shirts, bare feet and summer dresses are always great.
LOCATION AND TIME
I love to shoot families outside in nature. Before your session we’ll agree on a location that’s full of trees, paths and streams. I also love old barns, trucks, brick walls and anything with texture. If you have a suggestion for your location let me know ahead of time so I can scope it out. I try to plan family sessions during the last 2-3 hours before sunset. This is the best light and will be the most flattering for everyone.
