“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive, and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” -Maya Angelou
I love that quote… and Maya Angelou for that matter. I find myself drawn to quotes that help me put my sometimes overwhelming feelings into words. That’s something that can be hard for me. I’ve found a few really amazing authors and poets that I connect with. I’ve always loved Paulo Coelho… his book the Alchemist is my all time fave but I think I’ve read all of his books at least a few times each. I also really connect with Victoria Erickson’s work. Something about the way she writes just perfectly describes my feelings in a way that I didn’t have words for. Another new fave is Beau Taplin. I have a lot of both of their work pinned on Pinterest if you ever feel like having a look!
My way of communicating is through photography… but I am equally enthralled by the written word. I’m not a poet or a writer but I sure wish I was! For now, I’ll keep on with what I’m good at and share the quotes and poems that I fall in love with and some of my photography.
One of my favorite types of sessions are ones that include a passion or love of something that is current in your life. It might be dance, baseball, a special toy or blanket. I have a slight obsession with flowers and plants, so I tend to include them in a lot of my personal work. I’ve put together a few images below that I think capture passion, following our dreams and thriving. It isn’t always just about getting a pretty picture… the items (or people) included in these photos might not necessarily be obvious to anyone else looking at them, but to the person (or parents) there is something special shown.
Don’t be shy about letting me know if there’s something special you want to include in your photos. The more meaning behind them the better!
